Category: news, press release

On 30 October 2020, EUFORES organised a MEP-Academy meeting with experts from the European Climate Foundation & E3G to discuss the future role of gas in the event titled "What do more energy efficiency and renewables mean for the future role of gas?". The discussion went into the analysis on how the role of gas, infrastructure, hydrogen and other variants of gas are linked to the deployment of renewables, energy efficiency and an increased electrification of our economy.

Background information:

In light of the European Green Deal and the 2030 Climate Targets, new emission reduction targets have been set: to further cut the emissions of at least 55% by 2030 and to reach climate neutrality by 2050. The future of gas in light of the climate emergency and the EU regulatory framework for gas markets will be of core importance in the next months and the context of the Commission Work Programme 2021.
